OpenAI Launches GPT-Live, a New Generation of Voice Models

On July 8 OpenAI introduced GPT-Live, a new generation of voice models for natural human-AI interaction, rolling out in ChatGPT starting the same day.

OpenAI's own pitch: "You'll want to turn the sound on for this one."

It lands in a busy launch streak for the company — sandwiched between the GPT-5.6 preview and the Jalapeño inference-chip reveal — and pushes the voice interface back to the front of the product story.
