OpenAI has restored the five-hour usage window for Codex and Work on ChatGPT Plus, according to 9to5Mac on August 24.
For Plus subscribers, the five-hour refresh window is the number that actually governs a working session: it sets how much agentic coding a single seat can run before it stalls, and it is the first thing developers notice when it moves. Restoring it puts Plus back to the shorter cadence rather than a longer reset.
One outlet has covered this so far, and OpenAI has not paired it with a published limits breakdown. Check your own account's rate-limit display before planning around the change.
