OpenAI has cut the API price of GPT-5.6 Sol, per its developer pricing docs. The reduction is stated to run until at least November 21.
The change surfaced as an edit to the pricing page rather than a launch post — no accompanying announcement accompanied it — and reached 198 points and 182 comments on Hacker News within four hours, which is roughly what a frontier-model price move gets these days regardless of how quietly it ships.
"Until at least" is doing the work here. A dated floor on a discount is the same shape as Anthropic's intro pricing on Sonnet 5: a promise you can plan a quarter around, not a year. Check the live pricing table before you rebase any cost model on it.
