Speko, a YC S26 company, launched on Hacker News on August 17 with a one-line pitch that does most of the work: "OpenRouter for Voice AI" — a routing layer sitting in front of voice providers rather than another voice model.
The Launch HN thread pulled 117 points and 67 comments inside 48 hours, which is a healthy showing for a launch post and suggests the aggregation-layer framing landed with the infra crowd.
Beyond the batch and the positioning, the company has disclosed little publicly — no pricing tiers, no named provider roster, no round size.
OpenRouter turned text-model choice into a config line and made providers substitutable. Voice is the obvious next surface: fragmented across TTS, STT and realtime APIs, with pricing and latency that vary sharply by vendor. Whoever owns the router owns the switching costs — which is exactly why the incumbents dislike being routed.
